Thamrin City Batam
Thamrin City is the latest complex in Batam. It has been designed & built to accommodate the ever increasing numbers of visiting tourists to Batam.
Thamrin City is located quite close to Nagoya Hill Mall in Lubuk Baja Nagoya. In addition, Grand Batam Mall & BCS mall are also not too far away.
Located within the complex are hotels, restaurants, food courts, spas as well as many other useful shops and services.
There are two main food courts where you can find a great selection of local Indonesian foods, Asian menus and western dishes and of course, seafood.
Hotels & Accommodation Thamrin City
There are several hotels as well as other places to stay in Thamrin City. The nearest ferry terminal is at Harbour Bay.

Favehotel
Favehotel is classed as a 2-star hotel with apartment-style rooms with balconies. It’s located withing the Thamrin City complex close to the food court areas. Unlike our Vacation Suites you would also need to arrange your own transport to get here and there are no free local drops.
Harper Premier
Harper premier is not strictly in the Thamrin City complex but within walking distance. It’s a 3 star rated hotel featuring around 200 rooms. Guests here also need to make their own way as there is no free transport provided from the Batam ferry terminals.
Aston Nagoya City Hotel
Aston Nagoya City Hotel is 4-star rated within walking distance to Thamrin City area. If you stay here you also benefit from soundproof rooms which are useful as the complex can get quite noisy. In addition there is a swimming pool, fitness centre, as well as a restaurant, which serves breakfast from 6–10 AM. The hotel doesn’t offer you free land transfers but they may be available as addons if you book certain packages.
Main Food court Area
The main food court is an inside covered area, and is unique with its dedicated air conditioned eating areas . It is therefore different from other popular food courts like A2 Penuin & Nagoya Food Court. Also of noe is the way the stalls and tables are scattered around rather than all encircling one seated area.

At Mammma Yong Tahu you can choose from a huge range of fresh produce to make your own plate. In addition, this is a great place if you’re vegetarian too.

You will find Mamma Restaurant located in Ruko Nagoya Thamrin, Mamma Restaurant is great for fresh live seafood as well as steamboat servings and a halal menu, with favourites like Cheese Bihun Crab and Curry Steam Fish.
Xo Kare Seafood Located at Thamrin Food Market, Blok U-60, Batam their Specialty is Sapo Kari Udang (Curry Shrimp Sapo) as well as other options including seafood soups & Tom Yam
Citra Pempek is a popular choice for of Indonesian fish cakes (pempek) originating from Palembang, South Sumatra. You will find various menu options including Lenjer and Kapal Selam, served with a rich, savory, and also spicy vinegar-based sauce called cuko. Be warned though – It’s pretty hot!
Katsu Tei is one of many places in Batam for Japanese food, you can dine-in or take-away. A great option if handmade mieso is on your favourites list they also have bakso ikan & Sumsum hijau.
Hachidon is a great place for to find reasonably priced Japanese food in Batam. Their menu offers tempura donburi & rice bowls as well as specialities including Truffle Nikudon with grilled beef, Omelette Toridon with grilled chicken, and a Ghidorah Bowl with incredible tasting shrimp.
Pempek 158

Hola Pizza
Hola is one of Batam’s most popular pizza places. They have other outlets including the popular Nagoya Food court. Prices are extremely reasonable and the pizzas are really good. They also offer Burgers, Hot Dogs as well as Fries, Wings & Nuggets.
Rujak Pak Kumis
Rujak Pak Kumis is well know and long established at Nagoya Food court. As well as the usual spicy fruit mix (Rujak Buah) you can also order Rujak Campur Mie, Mie lendir, Rujak Cakwe.
Warung Jaen Ayam Taliwang
If you like your chicken spicy this is the place to eat here. Ayam (chicken) Taliwang is a very tasty spicy speciality from the island of Lombok. In addition they also serve Ayam Kampung Taliwang, Bebek (duck) Taliwang, Ayam & Bebek Betutu, Ayam & Bebek Sambal Matah, Chicken Sate, Kangkung, Fried Tofu and Tempe.
Bengkel Steak
If you prefer western style food then Bengkel Steak have great tasting chicken and beef steaks in addition they also serve fried chicken fries and burgers.
Mas Bule Mee Ayam & Bakso
Indonesia is famous for it’s meat balls (Bakso) also served with noodles or as a soup dish.
Warung Sumii Nasi Tempong
Do you like Spicy food? Nasi tempong is a very spicy dish fish or chicken dish from Banyuwangi in East Java, served with rice & vegetables, usually, spinach, basil, fried tofu, tempeh. Also served with very spicy, raw sambal.
Nasi Campur Khas Batam
In all Batam food courts you’ll find a Nasi Campur stall where you can choose to make up your own dish buffet style with choices of fish, meats as well as vegetables.

Garden corner is the place to eat if you like your food sizzling on a hot plate. With various options served with rice & noodles
The House of Salted
Famous for Salted eggs and buttermilk dishes. including Nasi goreng squid, peppered fried rice, chicken buttermilk, not forgetting the famous Mantou Salted egg. All served with a savoury salted egg sauce.
Soto Medan
Soto Medan is probably the tastiest of Indonesia’s famous soup. This particular stall has a long tradition at other locations in Batam. It’s one of my personal favourites when I visit Thamrin City.
Good Grub Belly
Good Grub Belly can also be found at Nagoya City walk . They’re known for preparing calorie friendly dishes. Menu offerings are Lean Tori Don – Chicken Rice Bowl With Omelette, Spicy Pad Kaprao -Thai chicken rice bowl with egg, Romaine, chicken breast, egg, parmesan, cherry tomatoes & garlic croutons with a creamy Caesar dressing. In addition there’s grilled chicken including a a signature black pepper sauce, served over red-white rice and veggies, Bowl of veggies, seasoned chicken, and egg over rice.
Barbargo Ayam Geprek
Ayam Geprek literally means ‘smashed chicken’. You can also find them at Mitra 2 pasar in Batam Center. Servings on offer are : White rice, smashed chicken with 5 spice levels and fresh vegetables, Smashed chicken with 5 different spice levels, egg and chicken, mozzarella cheese, and fresh vegetables, Smashed Chicken with Eggs, Fried Chicken, Fried Skin, Fried Cabbage, and Fresh Vegetables, Crushed Chicken Rice with Balinese Signature Sambal, Crispy karaage rice with Japanese mentai sauce and mozzarella cheese.
Bermutu Masakan Padang
Known locally as Masakan Padang this is a great place to make up your own dish from the many Sumatran favourites on offer.
Ciang Hau Hainam Chicken Rice
Better know as Hainanese chicken rice, Ciang Hau is also long established at the popular Pasir Putih food court in Batam Center.
Ayam Cajo
The popular Ayam cabe ijo, Bebek cabe ijo, Ayam bakar, Ayam kremes & Sate, Sayur asem are also served here.
Second Food court Area
The main food court area above serves mostly halal dishes. In addition, directly opposite across the road is another food court area which is more traditionally set out like a Hawker centre. Here you will find more choice for non halal (haram) dishes.
Warung Cinta
Warung Cinta is a Batam favourite. They’ve been present for several years with other out lets. They are famous for their ‘Sambal Memtah’, dishes on offer include Chicken, Shrimp, Tongkol, Lele, Duck, Squid as well as lots of vegetarian options.
Sop Ikan Ayam 44
This is a popular stall for Fish Soup, Seafood Soup, Chicken Soup and various side dishes, Dried Black Squid. In addition there is also Fried Free Range Chicken.
Botak Cun
Botak Cun is almost legendary in Batam and has been serving amazing dishes for around 50 years. They have outlets in Food court Pasir Putih and One Batam Mall serving delicous Bihun, Bakmie & Kwetiau.
Bak Kut Teh Simpang Empat
With outlets in several locations in Batam including Batam Center, Pasir Putih, Penuin as well as Mitra 2 making this a Batam favourite. Originally from Karimun this Bak Kut Teh is legendary.

Isvara is popular spot for pizzas, burgers as well as various snacks. In addition there are Bento boxes too and a variety of drinks including a wide selection of coffees. They serve various especially good deserts and also have a small children’s play area.
Kampung Kopitiam
Kampung Kopitiam is more of a traditional Indonesian warung/rumah makan. They serve common traditional Indonesian food but also have basic a selection of coffeee & tea at reasonable prices compared to Barista outlets.
Magna Coffee also known as Arteeats are well reputed for their extensive list of speciality coffees, pastries as well as sandwiches.
FuYuan Mala Xiang Guo & Shao Kao
Although many of Batam’s residents are of Chinese descent, it’s actually quite difficult to find what many consider authentic Chinese food in Batam. Mala Xiang Guo and Shao Kao is very traditional Sichuan food. Mala Xiang Guo is usually made of stir-fried meats, vegetables, and tofu. Shao Kao is what you may call Chinese satay as it’s grilled skewers seasoned with similar Sichuan spices.
Sederhana is quite simply the most popular place in Batam for Masakan / Nasi Padang. In addition they can also be found at Winsor, Jodoh, Batu Aji, Harbourbay & Mega Mall
Pempek Kamto
Palembang in Sumatra is usually synonymous with Pempek. However Pempek Kamto originates from Yogyakarta in Java and has been serving its own brand of this popular dish for over 40 years.
Lao Si Chuan
In addition to the very similar Fuyuan above, Lao Si Chuan is a non-halal Sichuan chinese restaurant specializing in authentic spicy Mala Xiang Guo (spicy stir-fry pot) and also Shao Kao skewers

As the name suggests this is where you’ll find Bird’s nest. Unfortunately, the reviews here are not so good.
