Ferry to Batam Ticket Price

As with most transport costs, a return journey normally works out cheapest.  However for Indonesian citizens a one way ticket in either direction can sometimes be a better option.  Ferry companies have lower prices for Indonesian nationals departing from Batam.  For non Indonesians travelling from Singapore a ticket both ways will always be cheaper and most operators offer open returns too. Foreigners purchasing ferry tickets in Batam should expect to pay more.
Current pricing for a ferry to Batam from Singapore is around $70 Sgd return. Much of the fare is taken up by taxes and port charges.  The ticket price is often advertised much lower than $70 SGD.  This is because the price advertised rarely includes the departure taxes which are mandatory.
Like most forms of transport, the ferry ticket price to Batam has risen since the pandemic.  There are always promotions available, but it’s important to note that if you buy a slightly cheaper promo ticket, there is very little flexibility.
Ferry tickets from Singapore to Batam are widely available online on sites such as Shopee and Lazada, as well as ferry ticket resellers such as Direct Ferries and Easy Book. However, if you buy directly from the ferry company itself, you have more options to change as well as book an open returns.  Tickets to Batam from 3rd party resellers are usually not changeable once purchased.  For public holiday periods it’s really worth planning your trip and booking your ferry in advance. Otherwise it’s usually possible to arrive at the terminal to obtain your ticket with little difference in price to advanced booking.
Another option for a discounted Batam ferry is to buy vouchers. If you’re in Batam, discounted vouchers are available at most Batam malls as well as many travel agents.
