Japanese Food Batam  – Asakuma Nagoya

Asakuma Japanese Restaurant Batam

We start with the Asakuma restaurant in the centre of Nagoya. This popular Japanese restaurant is only a short walk (or a free drop if we’re available) from our Batam Center family apartments. Ideal if you’re with a large group, a family or indeed if you have a corporate group to entertain.  We have apartments close to Nagoya Hill  from only $30 per night, and can also arrange free transport to many Japanese restaurantsAsk us for details.

Asakuma have special private rooms for you to enjoy your Japanese dishes.  However, if you want to take advantage of a,private room, you will need to book in advance.  We often book private rooms for guests staying with us.

You’ll enjoy the excellent choice of buffet and great quality service from the staff that work there.

Japanese Food Batam – Sushi Tei

Sushi Tei Batam

If you’re a lover of Japanese food, chances are that you will be a familiar with the Sushi Tei name.   Sushi Tei have outlets throughout Indonesia as well is in Singapore.  Their success is based on great quality Japanese food at a reasonable price.  The Sushi Tei restaurant in Batam is located in the Penuin area, not too far from the BCC hotel and A2 food court. There is also an outlet in Grand Batam Mall just over the road.  You’ll see it on the left hand side when heading for the Baloi area, just before Teras Cafe.

Sushi Tei Batam is blesssed a TripAdvisor certificate of excellence based on it’s many top reviews.  Because Sushi Tei have an extensive established network both in Indonesia and Singapore, sushi lovers can be reassured about the freshness here.  They have an open kitchen so you can see all the food being prepared and served in a clean environment.

The staff here deserve a special mention too.  They are keen and attentive and nothing is too much trouble.  They even let me take a little Wasabi home if I ask.

YUZU sushi boutique & restaurant

A new addition in the Sukajadi area close to Kepri mall so for many this will be an option for lunch.

Their sushi comes in for good mentions.  They also serve other Japanese favorites like Ramen and bento options.

What this place really has going for it is the decor and ambiance.  It’s exceptionally well presented with a unique layout.

Japanese Food Batam – Sushi Home

Finally there’s a food court with a great selection of Japanese flood.  Sushi Home is located on the upper floor at Nagoya Food Court.  This means you can also eat good Japanese food outside.  Although located at the food court, it’s actually structured like a restaurant as the stall has lots of tables in it’s own area.  And because it’s in the covered area, it’s open all day.  Lots of Sushu, Sasimi Bento chloiuces etc as good as any other Japanese restaurant.

Bento Tei

Bento Tei Japanese Restaurant Batam

If the Japanese style of Bento food (set menu in a box) appeals to you, then Bento Tei could be just the place for you.

Bento Tei is located in the popular Nagoya City Walk complex next to the Biz hotel in  Nagoya.  This is ideal if you’re with the kids.  You can set them free in the indoor fun fair to play whilst you enjoy your bento set ans well as keep an eye on them at the same time.

Bento set Japanese food is among the most economical way to enjoy it so you won’t be disappointed with the price here.  The choice is simple with Maki, Katsu and Miso type offerings.

Itadakimasu

Itadakimasu Japanese Restaurant batam

This location was formerly known as Kaiten Sushi.  The name Itadakimasu literally means let’s eat or bon appetite.

I assume that the name change also came with a new owner.  The reviews under the previous name were awful but I have to say I’ve never had a bad meal here.  The price is very reasonable too with good service.  The sushi sets here are excellent and if you’re hungry you can top up with some cheap tasty plain makis.

A word of advice though, don’t eat the salmon and avocado salad, it’s really tiny and nothing like the picture you see on the menu.

If you fancy combining your Japanese food Batam with a shopping trip then Itadakimasu is a popular choice as it’s located on the 3rd floor of the popular BCS shopping mall in the Penuin area.  They have a conveyor as well as low set tables if you want the authentic Japanese experience.  I always take Japanese tea with my food here as they offer free refills.

Good overall quality, lots of choice and a reasonable price tag here.

Iseya Japanese Restaurant Baloi

Iseya Japanese Restaurant Batam

If you travel in to Nagoya from Tiban, you may have noticed the Iseya restaurant.  You can see it located on the left hand side of the road just after the university. I’ve always been surprised that this restaurant manages to survive being so far from any notable spot, so I assume they have lots of regular clients which is often the sign of a special type of place.

If reviews are important to you, then don’t worry.  Reviews of Iseya are above average.  I love the  atmosphere of the restaurant here as well as the quality of the food and the warm service.  I strongly recommend the gyoza, it’s very tasty.

One thing I like about the food here is that you can choose from an a la carte menu or order bento sets.

Zenbu – House of Mozaru

Zenbu Japanese Restaurant Nagoya Hill Batam

Zenbu is unique because it is the only Japanese restaurant located at Nagoya Hill shopping mall, Batam’s most popular shopping mall.  The easiest way for you to find Zenbu is to walk to the far end of food street or to the exit door in the Matahari department store. It’s located in it’s own unit rather than as part of the complex.

We also recommend Zenbu to guests renting our Batam apartments, it’s only a 5 minute walk away or a free ride and easy to find.

Zenbu is famous for it’s chicken cooked with a coke or beer can inside.  I’ve tasted both and prefer the beer chicken known as savage chicken.

Zenbu restaurants can be found in most Indonesian cities and are extremely popular.  Their menu has regular Japanese offerings such as sushi, tepanyaki, yaki udon, omurice, ramen and many others.

Kazu

Kazu Japanese Restaurant Batam

The kazu chain of Japanese restaurants are to be found world wide and have a reputation for exceptional quality.

Kazu in Batam is no exception.  Reviews here are well above average.  However, compared to other Japanese food and restaurants in Batam, you will pay more for your food and drinks here.  I personally think it’s worth the price, especially for special occasions.

If you are genuinely into authentic top quality Japanese food, this is probably the Best in Batam! The sashimi and sushi are always incredibly fresh. The sake is delicious and they have Japanese beer too.

Service is top drawer with fast and attentive staff always willing to do their best for you.  You can also eat in a private room here which they say costs no extra but as I mentioned, the price here is higher than elsewhere.

Kazu is for all you connoisseurs out there.  Find them close to Harmoni apartments in Nagoya.

Nogusaya Teppanyaki & Grill Restaurant

nogusaya teppanyaki japanese restaurant batam

Nogusaya is best known for being a bespoke teppanyaki restaurant. This Japanese restaurant is located at the popular Turi beach resort and  is the only pace you can get Japanese food in the Nongsa resort area.

Not strictly Japanese as they also use the teppanyaki facility to cook other tasty Asian dishes.  However the overwhelming opinion here is that the food is delicious.

Teppanyaki sets here cost $20 – $3o which is rather expensive for Batam.  But you need to remember that this location is expensive for most things as it targets tourists.  Expect to pay at least $100 for a family of 4.

Rather a ,long way to go if you’re staying in Nagoya, but the view from the raised restaurant is very nice and the atmosphere special.
