Looking for Indian restaurant in Batam? If you’re of Indian descent and intend to visit Batam then one of the first things you’ll be looking for is a place that sells great Indian food.

There are now many Indian restaurants in Batam.  From bespoke Indian restaurants as well as small street stalls, you’re never far away from all those delicious spices.

Most Indian restaurants are in the Nagoya area which means your nearest ferry terminal is Harbour Bay .  If you use  Batam Center ferry terminal Maharaja (below) is around 5 minutes by car or taxi.  Sekupang and Nongsa ferry terminals are not close to Indian restaurants so you’ll need to travel around 3o minutes to an hour respectively to find an Indian food.

Here we’ll try our best to give you some help in finding the best place for you to enjoy some Indian cuisine.

If you’d also like to visit an Indian restaurant as part of a day tour, we can organize a tour just for you.  For further information contact us here.

Taj Indian Cuisine

Taj Indian Cuisine Batam

Taj Indian cuisine is only two minutes walk from our Batam Vacation Suites.   Here’s a link for Taj Indian restaurant is on google maps.

Because of this, not forgetting Taj’s great reviews and our $6 pax per night price, we get many Indian families requesting to stay with us.

At Taj Indian Restaurant Batam you are served authentic Indian food.  As well as this, there is a great selection of vegetarian options.  Their chapati and butter tandoori roti  get rave reviews. Also of note is their tandoori chicken, Indian fish and vegetarian curries.  In addition, they have a really wide choice of other Indian dishes.

As well as being located close to our apartments, Taj Indian Cuisine is also very popular because it is just a short walk from Nagoya Hill shopping mall.  Next door to Taj there is also a bar which is great if you want to enjoy a beer after your meal.

Maharaja Curry House

Maharaja Batam

Maharaja is probably the best known Indian restaurant in Batam. Many guests and especially Indian families that come to stay in our apartments are well aware of Maharaja’s great reputation.  All they need from us is a driver to them and the address.

Here you’ll find a very extensive Indian menu and importantly, there’s also a great choice of Indian vegetarian food.  My favorites are their chicken tikka masalah as well as their methi chicken.  They serve naan breads, poppadoms, prata, not forgetting the pickles to accompany your meal.

You can also check out their full and extensive menu by clicking the link above.

You can find Maharaja in the palm springs area of Batam center.  If you have access to the Go-Jek App, you can also order your Indian takeaway online where their full menu is also on display.

Martabak Har

Martabak Har Indian Restaurant Batam

If you’re wondering what Martabak actually means, in Indonesia it refers to a type of pancake. But that’s not all that’s you will find at Martabak Har.  Probably Batam’s longest established Indian restaurant.  It is well known to locals as well as regular visitors to Batam.

If you’re looking for an Indian restaurant as well as value for money, it must be said that this popular restaurant in the centre of Nagoya is the reason so many people eat here.  It’s comparatively cheaper than other Indian restaurants, but they still get  good reviews regarding the quality of the food they serve.

You can choose from a wide range of curries including goat, beef chicken and shrimp.  Many people rave about the quality of the prata and canai.  If you’re looking for vegetarian, there is a huge range of vegetarian dishes for you to choose from, as well as several varieties of rice.  If fish is your thing it is catered for in many dishes as well as prawn dishes.

You can’t miss the main Martabak Har.  The original restaurant sits on the corner of the main traffic lights in the center of town opposite to Goodway hotel.  They also have a newly opened branch not too far away. Walk a little further past Harmony hotel to the tee junction close to Macdonalds and opposite the Nagoya Central mosque

You can also find Martabak Har at Harbour Bay ferry terminal in the departures / arrivals hall. They’ve recently opened a new outlet there so ideal to get some Indian food whilst waiting for your ferry or indeed pick up on arrival.

Empire Restaurant & Lounge

Empire Restaurant and Lounge Batam

The title on the sign outside Empire Restaurant says ‘multi cuisine’.  Here you can find Indian Bangladeshi, Asian and even Lebanese food on offer.  The majority of the reviews all rave about the food here.

Favorite dishes here include Dosai, chicken briyani, fish tikka, as well as butter chicken.  Their Tandoori and biriyani dishes attract particular praise from customers.  They also offer a selection of yogurt & cucumber based drinks to cool the tongue a little if you need some assistance.

Speaking of assistance, their staff and the are extremely pleasant and helpful.

You can also order their  a free takeaway delivery if you’re staying not too far away.

Empire Restaurant is located more out of town in the Batam Center area, not too far from De Bottle.  So it’s likely that you’ll need transport to get here from wherever you are staying.  The trip though will be worth it.

Indian Delight Restaurant Batam

Indian D’light is another Indian restaurantBatam is located away from Nagoya.  You will find this restaurant at the popular Kepri mall in the Sukajadi area of Batam. If you are staying at the nearby Radisson hotel or the Best western Premier at Villa Panbil it is very close by.

Like other Indian restaurants in Batam, the reviews for Indian Delight are mostly good.  Their resident chef is Indian from Chennai so you can be sure you will be getting a real authentic taste here.  The owner Krishnan is an extremely nice man and always takes a keen interest in making sure his customers are satisfied.

For choice of food there is all the usual tasty Indian dishes to choose from.  The chef will adjust the spice for you if required which is great for me as I can’t take it too hot.  Popular choices here are the dahl, biriyani, and masala tea.

There’s a full choice of starters, main meals, desserts, Tiffin and sides not to mention the many Indian breads.  Taste is great and the price is reasonable.

Barakah Briyani

For all you Biriyani fans, this is the place to go.  They get rave reviews for this signature dish.

For the price of special Rp. 50,000 chicken briyani, hyder in chicken briyani Rp. 40 thousand, beef briyani Rp. 45 thousand, fish briyani Rp. 40 thousand, mutton briyani Rp. 45 thousand, chicken briyani Rp. 40 thousand, and veg briyani Rp. 30 thousand. Even with every purchase through the Gojek application all items of rice briyani you will get free teh tarik.

They serve it with beef, goat, chicken, mutton, fish and of course vegetarian flavors.  Not only that, they can also change the spices to produce different regional variations for a subtle change in tastes.

Prices are cheap too starting at only Rp30,000 for the vegetarian and no more tha Rp 50,000 for the meat dishes.  Food can also be ordered via Go-Jek if you want to order and eat at home.

You can find Barakah at Ruko Purimas Blok A No 48, Batam Center, Batam open daily 10am to 10pm

Indian Food at Batam Food Courts

There have been several attempts to open Indian flood stalls at food courts in Batam.  There was once a Briyani stall at A2 food court and there’s currently a new stall open called Jee’s Indian food at Nagoya Food Court.  Jee has a pretty good selection with tandoori, curry, Bryani, Chana and of course Martabak.  Both A2 and Nagoya Food courts have Prata and Martabak options.
