Nagoya Hill is by far the most visited shopping mall location that visitors and tourists relate everything to.

The nearest ferry terminal to Nagoya Hill mall is Harbour Bay which is just a few minutes ride.  From Batam Center it’s around 15 minutes, whereas from Sekupang and Nongsa ferry terminals the journey is between 30 minutes and an hour.

To help you with a brief outline of the many available shops and services you may be seeking there’s;

At Nagoya Hill Mall you’ll mostly find local stores rather than brands and chains.  If it’s branded goods and well known brands you seek then the newly built Grand Batam Mall maybe more suitable for you.  If it’s rock bottom bargains that interest you then it has to be DC Mall and BCS Mall

If food and drink is important to you, there’s an enormous choice of cafes and places to eat at a budget price. When you combine that with how easy it is to get to from the ferry terminals at Harbour Bay and Batam Center Nagoya Hill is your a clear winner.

Nagoya Hill is the biggest shopping mall in Batam.  It’s not just a mall though.  At Nagoya Hill you’ll find  a central mall which has 4 floors and sits in a compound encircled by many more businesses.  This makes Nagoya Hill your one stop destination for many which will meet the needs of practically everyone.

Basement

Hypermart Batam

The mall sits on a slope so depending on which entrance you use will depend on entering via the basement or the 1st floor. descending to the basement you’ll encounter a large media centre.  Here you’ll find lots of small stores selling the latest devices like cell phones, cameras laptops.  Also to be found in the basement floor is the Hypermart. This is a Walmart type store that sells household, electrical goods, clothing, groceries, fresh produce like meat and fish. Hypermart have a bakery on site so don’t be surprised when you smell the fresh bread. If you need to access Hypermart from the upper floor you can access via the moving walkway which is also wheelchair friendly.  You can also find in the basement close to the Hypermart entrance, chemists and cosmetic stores

The basement as well as the 1st floor is where you’ll be able to get that all important cash for your Batam shopping.  Most retailers take cards, but you regular visitors will know cash is king in Indonesia.  Food Street also has an ATM centre. If you need a bank there’s several branches available, money changers can be found at both main entrances.

Food & Restaurants

Food street Nagoya Hill Batam

The best known location for food, is food street.  As the name implies it’s a long street with stalls on either side selling a variety of dishes from all over Asia, Indonesia and indeed the western world. Frankly, if you can’t find anything to eat here it’s doubtful you’ll find anything to your taste elsewhere. Despite the variety that food street has to offer, it can be a rather warm experience as it doesn’t really benefit from air conditioning.  There are outlets like the popular Duck King (great Dim Sum) and Pizza Hut  which have their own bespoke AC.  So if you want to sit on ‘the street’ expect to feel a little warm.  At the end of food street you’ll find the popular Zenbu Japanese restaurant.

Besides Food street, I prefer the top floor, here you can find several popular larger outlets all offering their servings at a cooler temperature and often a price more favorable to your wallet.  Cafes like Malaya, Kangen cafe & Baresto have exceptionally cheap midweek offers with food as little as 8000 Rupiah per dish. Also on this floor try the popular FoodPoint. This is an indoor food court with a really comfortable ambiance.  Eating on this floor also guarantees a place to get away from cigarette smoke.

Spa & Massage

Batam Spa and Massage

You can find Spas in the shops outside which encircle the mall.  Spas to note include  Zen Wellness, Majesty, Eska, Spa Central & Sakura .  The spa business in Batam is fiercely contested with there being so many outlets,  so my advice is that you check for special offers. Why not try an email in advance to secure a great price.  We also have a specific post regarding Batam spas you may wish to read up on.

Department Stores

Informa Furnishings Batam

If you’re looking for a department store, the Matahari department store is to be found in practically every mall in Indonesia.  Matahari Nagoya Hill is located at the western side.  It’s a large mostly clothing store with a huge range of shoes as well as top brand cosmetics. Whenever you go to Matahari you will see signs saying ‘Sale’ they’re everywhere.

Another large department store in the mall is the ACE hardware and Informa partnership.  They have everything you could need to renovate decorate and improve your home, garden or business.  They offer a huge range of furnishings, trinkets and appliances.

Smaller Shops

In addition to the aforementioned larger stores, there’s plethora of shops and smaller stores waiting for you.  They sell a whole range of other goods like  handbags, jewelry, wallets, arts & crafts, toys.  Tired after a a long shopping spree? Need somewhere to entertain the children? There’s a soft play area on the 3rd floor as well as a Timezone.

Karaoke

Karaoke Nagoya Hill Batam

Fancy a singalong? If Karaoke in Batam is your thing then there’s no less than six places to choose from.  Karaoke is available at Inul Vista, Mr K Family, K One Karaoke, Happy Puppy and Martini.

Cinema

Why not round off your day with a visit to the cinema.  The cinema at Nagoya Hill (multiplex) is located on the top floor showing all the latest films many in English.

Nagoya Hill is open until 10pm although many other stores and services within the plaza do operate until later.
