Dim Sum Batam – A Guide
Dim Sum has become a very popular meal in Batam Not only for visitors but also locals. Of course in order for the majority of locals to eat Dim Sum it needs to be Halal. Dim Sum connoisseurs may consider the lack of pork a problem but in reality Halal Dim Sum is in fact extremely tasty.
For a long time Batam Seafood was the preferred choice for food and the only place you could find Dim Sum in Batam was hotels. However much has changed and there are outlets in food courts, malls and bespoke restaurants to be found pretty much everywhere.

Nagoya Hill Hotel – Dim Sum Restaurant
Located close to the Nagoya Hill Mall, the Nagoya Hill Hotel as long been a favourite destination for Dim Sum. It’s Oriental restaurant has long been serving both A la Carte as well as buffet options (often with promotions)
Hangout Cafe & Bar Batam Dim Sum
If you’d prefer to enjoy the Nagoya Hill Hotel Dim Sum in a more relaxed atmosphere, then just next door is their Hangout Cafe & Bar. From here you can relax in a less formal setting but order from the hotel’s Oriental Chinese restaurant including the Dim Sum menu.

Dim Sum at Mama Tjoe Restaurant
With the head chef and owner from Hong Kong, it’s hardly surprising that Mama Tjoe has quickly become of of Batam’s favourite Dim Sum restaurants.
Located in the centre of Nagoya, and very close to Nagoya Food Court, this restaurant is often full to capacity. However, you can order online if you can’t get a seat . The taste is probably the closest you will find to traditional Cantonese Dim Sum.
They also have an amazing choice of drinks as well as Boba on offer. The restaurant is divided into AC and outside where you may smoke too. It’s also located next to the Nagoya Mixue outlet where you can enjoy a delicious ice cream after savouring the amazing food.

Duck Kitchen
If you’d like to take Dim Sum as well as some shopping as part of your day out in Batam, You’ll find Duck Kitchen in Nagoya Hill and Grand Batam Malls
Duck Kitchen is immediately noticeable by the Cantonese hanging ducks on display. They offer a fairly traditional Dim Sum menu with the Roast Duck being the most popular item.

Grand Duck Restaurant & Dim Sum
Grand Duck restaurant has long been established in Batam. Famous for it’s duck and Dim Sum offerings. They have two outlets available. One opposite to BCS mall not too far from A2 Food Court, and another in Nagoya City Walk. The City walk option is ideal if you’re also looking for a place to entertain the children in Batam.
DIM Sum PJS
With extremely good reviews, you’re guaranteed to enjoy the Dim Sum offered by PJS. This is what you may call a local offering. They have outlets in the Sei Panas and Botania areas as well as a stall at Nagoya Food court. We prefer the Nagoya Food Court stall because it allows us to add a little Dim Sum to the vast choice of stalls at one of Batam’s favourite food-courts. If you’d like to order Dim Sum takeaway they also have their food on the Go-food site where you can order delivery.
Maneka Dim Sum Thamrin City Food Market

This is another option for taking Dim Sum at one of Batam’s Food Courts, namely Thamrin City Food Market. Maneka has a very spacious area at the food market located on the front area. But you don’t have to sit in their space. If you want to mix your Dim Sum with offerings at the food court you can sit in the main area and order their food to accompany.
